The Rheem AmbiPower® MDc-180 is an all-in-one 178L heat pump hot-water cylinder designed for smaller households wanting to reduce their power bills. Instead of relying on a traditional electric element to heat your water, it takes heat from the surrounding air and transfers it into the cylinder, using much less electricity in the process. Rheem states it can reduce water-heating energy use by up to 70% compared with a similar-sized electric water heater. It also has a 2.4kW backup element for very cold conditions and operates in temperatures from -7°C to 43°C.

With a 178L capacity, Rheem recommends it for households of 1–4 people, making it a particularly good option for couples, small families and homes that don’t require a large hot-water cylinder. It’s an outdoor unit and comes with a 7-year cylinder replacement warranty for domestic installations, subject to Rheem’s warranty conditions.
